Principles of effective guidelines
- Start from outcomes. Define what the learner will be able to do, not what the course will cover.
- Sequence for application. Order content so every concept is used soon after it is introduced.
- Design assessment early. If mastery cannot be measured, it cannot be managed.
- Leave room for context. Guidelines should direct the trainer without silencing their judgment.
